This Privacy Policy explains how AlMaqam Car Rental collects, uses, stores, and protects personal information when customers use the AlMaqam mobile application, website, and related services.
1. Who we are
AlMaqam provides car rental booking services through its website and mobile application. This policy applies to customer interactions related to account registration, booking requests, reservation management, payments, customer support, and account deletion requests.
2. Information we may collect
- Account information such as full name, mobile number, email address, and login credentials.
- Booking and rental information such as selected car, branch, pickup and return details, booking dates, and reservation status.
- Identity and eligibility details when required for rental processing, such as nationality, date of birth, ID type, ID number, driving license details, and supporting document images.
- Communication records when you contact AlMaqam for support, complaints, or account-related requests.
- Technical information such as device type, browser or app version, IP address, and basic usage logs needed for security, troubleshooting, and service improvement.
- Approximate device location, only if the user grants the location permission, to help show nearby branches on the map.
- Corporate information for company rentals, such as company name, commercial registration or tax details, and authorized contact person.
- Information about another person when the customer uses the app to create a reservation on behalf of someone else, strictly for handing over the vehicle and fulfilling the reservation.
3. How we use your information

- To process reservations and provide car rental services.
- To verify customer identity and rental eligibility when required.
- To send booking confirmations, one-time passwords, support replies, and service-related notifications.
- To process or confirm payments through authorized payment service providers.

4. Points and referral program
AlMaqam offers a loyalty points and referral program designed to reward active customers and encourage them to share the service with others. This section explains how the program works and how related personal data is processed.
4.1 What the points are
- Welcome points: new customers may receive a one-time welcome points balance after successfully creating an account and completing any required verification.
- Earned points: customers may earn additional points from eligible actions on the platform, such as completing bookings, using the referral program, or participating in official promotions.
- Point value: each point represents a monetary value that can be used as a discount on future eligible bookings. The exact conversion rate and any limits are displayed inside the app at the time of use.
4.2 How points are used
- Points are linked to the customer account that earned them and are not transferable between accounts.
- Customers can choose to apply available points during the booking or checkout step to reduce the total amount payable, up to the maximum allowed per reservation.
- Points may have usage limits per reservation, per time period, or per promotion, as defined and displayed inside the app.
- Points do not have a cash value outside the AlMaqam service, cannot be exchanged for money, and cannot be sold or transferred to any third party.
- Points may expire, be adjusted, or be revoked if they were granted by mistake, as part of fraud or misuse, or in connection with a cancelled, refunded, or invalid reservation.
4.3 Referral code
- Each account is assigned a unique referral code that can be shared with others.
- When a new user signs up using a valid referral code and completes a qualifying first reservation, the referral benefit (such as a discount or points reward) may be granted according to the rules shown in the app.
- Referral benefits can only be used by the account they were granted to and cannot be combined with offers in a way that violates the program rules.
- AlMaqam may refuse, cancel, or reverse referral rewards linked to suspicious, automated, or fraudulent activity.
4.4 Data processed for the program
- Account identifiers needed to link points and referral activity to the correct customer.
- Booking, payment, and reservation data used to calculate eligibility, apply discounts, and prevent misuse.
- Referral relationships between the inviting account and the invited account, strictly to apply the program rules and detect fraudulent activity.
AlMaqam reserves the right to update, modify, suspend, or discontinue the points and referral program, in whole or in part, at any time, including changing the point value, earning rules, usage limits, or eligibility conditions. Any changes will be reflected inside the app and, where appropriate, in this policy.
5. Location data and maps
The AlMaqam service includes features that help customers view branch locations on the map and select the closest or most convenient branch for pickup and return.
- Branch addresses and map markers are displayed through integrated mapping providers such as Google Maps.
- If the user grants location permission on the device, AlMaqam may use the approximate device location only to highlight nearby branches and improve the booking experience. Device location is not used to track the user outside the app and is not shared for advertising.
- Location permission can be denied or revoked at any time from the device settings; the app will continue to work, and the customer can manually select a city and branch.
- When interacting with embedded maps, the mapping provider may process technical information such as IP address and device data according to its own privacy terms.
6. Pickup, delivery, and scheduling
AlMaqam allows customers to choose the pickup and return branch and to specify the pickup and return date and time. For each reservation, the following information may be processed:
- Selected pickup and return branches or locations, as well as any customer-requested delivery details.
- Booking schedule information such as start and end dates, pickup and return times, rental duration, and extension details.
- Vehicle mileage details, additional kilometers used, and any service notes connected to the reservation.
This information is used to coordinate the rental, prepare the vehicle, communicate with the customer, and complete the return.
7. Reservations for another person
The app allows an authorized customer to create a reservation on behalf of another person. In that case, the account holder is responsible for providing only the information that the other person has authorized to share, and for ensuring that person is legally eligible to rent the vehicle.
- AlMaqam may process the name, contact details, and any identification or license information required to hand over the vehicle to the intended driver.
- The information of the other person is used strictly to fulfill the reservation and for related safety, legal, and verification purposes.
- By submitting information about another person, the account holder confirms that they have obtained that person's consent to share their information with AlMaqam for this purpose.
8. Corporate and company accounts
AlMaqam serves both individual customers and corporate clients. For company rentals and corporate quotations, we may additionally process:
- Company name, commercial registration or tax details, and official contact person information.
- Business email, business phone number, and authorized representative details.
- Requested rental volume, contract duration, and any specific service requirements.
This information is used to prepare quotations, issue corporate contracts, manage company reservations, and issue compliant invoices.
9. Promotions, promo codes, and invoices
- Customers may apply promotional codes or special offers during booking. Usage of promo codes is recorded to enforce eligibility rules, per-customer limits, and fraud prevention.
- For every completed reservation, AlMaqam may generate an invoice containing the reservation details, the final price, any applied discounts or points, and the applicable tax (including value-added tax). Invoices are retained in accordance with the applicable accounting and tax regulations.
10. Notifications and communications
AlMaqam may send service-related communications to customers, including:
- SMS, email, WhatsApp, or in-app notifications for account verification and one-time passwords.
- Booking confirmations, reminders, status updates, extension notices, and payment receipts.
- Customer support replies and account-related messages.
- Optional promotional messages, which the customer can opt out of at any time by following the unsubscribe instructions or by contacting support.
Push notifications on mobile devices can be enabled or disabled at any time from the device settings.
11. Payments
Payments are processed through authorized payment service providers. Full card numbers and sensitive payment credentials are handled directly by these providers and are not stored by AlMaqam. AlMaqam receives only the minimum information required to confirm the payment status and link it to the reservation, such as transaction reference, payment status, amount, and payment method type.
12. Sharing of information
AlMaqam does not sell personal information. We may share limited data only when necessary with:
- Operational teams, branches, and customer support staff responsible for managing reservations and service delivery.
- Payment, hosting, messaging, mapping, verification, analytics, and technical service providers acting on our behalf.
- Corporate customers for the limited purpose of fulfilling their own approved company reservations.
- Competent authorities when disclosure is required by law, regulation, court order, or to protect legal rights and safety.
13. Data retention
We retain personal information only for as long as needed to provide services, operate the account, maintain booking records, resolve disputes, enforce agreements, and satisfy legal, tax, accounting, fraud prevention, or security requirements. When data is no longer needed, it is deleted, anonymized, or securely archived according to the applicable retention purpose.
14. Security
AlMaqam uses reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures to protect personal information against unauthorized access, misuse, alteration, or disclosure. However, no internet-based service or storage system can be guaranteed to be completely secure.
15. Your choices and rights
You may request access, correction, or deletion of your account information, subject to any legal or operational retention obligations. If you want to delete your account, please use the in-app option or visit the official account deletion page linked below.
16. Children's privacy
AlMaqam services are intended for customers who are legally eligible to rent vehicles. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children who are not legally permitted to use the service.
17. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect service, legal, or operational changes. The updated version will be published on this page with a revised effective date.
